A Letter to My Baby
August 12, 2009
Dear Baby,
Today through a home-pregnancy test, I found out that I’m carrying you inside me. Two lines says it all! You’re still this tiny-bitty thing inside me, floating and just having a ball inside, safe and unknowing that we are so excitely waiting for you.
Your daddy and I weren’t even trying so hard to have you. But then we weren’t exactly preventing you to happen. So you are meant to happen! And we are more than happy and excited to have you in our lives. Even your big brother Matthew, who is 3-years old now, has been longing for a playmate and longing for someone to share his toys with.
Oh, you will be so loved. When I told your daddy on the phone about you, I felt his smiles across the phonecall. I told him to keep it a secret for awhile at least until we get a doctor’s confirmation. But then he’s just so happy, couldn’t hold himself from telling everyone just a few seconds after I told him.
I just know that you will bring us more smiles and laughter, more love in our home!
- Love, Mommy
As of this writing, I am 9-10 weeks pregnant for our 2nd baby! We have seen the doctor already and got more than one confirmation of this pregnancy. This is definitely a summer baby to be born by spring time next year. Much can be said about Hubby’s summer break from school – very productive! We have not seen the baby through the ultrasound but we will in a few weeks.
I have to say that this pregnancy is not as smooth sailing as my first pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Matthew, the only symptoms I had was increased appetite, no nausea, no morning or evening sickness. My belly was just getting bigger and I had the biggest appetite I have ever had. I didn’t even have cravings before, but I was just eating a lot.
This time around, morning and evening sickness come and go. There are are a few days when I can barely get my self around, because every time I get up I feel like all my insides wants to come out. A few times, I have bad taste in my throat and this gets worse by certain foods and smells that make me feel sick. Because of this, I have a very picky appetite. Also, I always feel like there’s something stuck in my throat and chest, that makes me want to throw up. But then, I have too many cravings, but they are only good when I am thinking about it. As soon as they are in front of me, I have already lost my craving for it. I get by with a few Tums a day, napping with Matthew in the afternoon, and earlier bedtime (no more late night blogging). Also, it makes me feel good looking up for baby names and their meanings. Hopefully, the symptoms will go away soon, and that the rest of this pregnancy will have no complications. And of course, we hope for a healthy baby.
I know there are lots to do and to prepare for. We have already found a good OB/GYN. It’s a male doctor, but he’s nice, and I like that he makes small talks first, before the serious stuffs. Seriously, the stuffs he has to do to me professionally, I appreciate the small talks as an attempt to make me feel comfortable.
In time, we will decide where and how we are having this baby as we will also think about arranging for Matthew’s care when that time comes and getting him prepared for the coming of his sibling.
