Star Trek Revelation

I like watching trailers. For most movies, the 5-minute trailer is better than the actual movie, but not for Star Trek! This movie is a 2-hour long trailer! It’s so action packed that it’s like watching a really great movie trailer for 2 hours, that you don’t wanna blink and miss a thing. So captivating, funny, great cast, great acting and awesome special effects!

You don’t have to be a Star Trek fan to follow the story. The story line of this movie followed a different direction. I’m sure that even a non-Star Trek fan will like it for its special effects and the great acting! However, I do think you have to have a little bit of background to the Star Trek original Series characters like Kirk, Spock, Uhura, etc. so that you will be able to pick up some of the funny lines. But since the movie went a different direction, it created a little bit of confusion. However, it didn’t take away from the entertainment factor of the movie.

Great casts! Each and every cast did great – even those known for romantic or comedy movies like Cris Pine (The Princess Diaries 2), John Cho (Harold and Kumar), Simon Pegg (Shawn of the Dead), etc.! The cast who is most surprising is Eric Bana, who played the villain. You won’t get a hint of Prince Hector (Troy) or Henry VIII (The Other Boleyn Girl) in his character in Star Trek.

Hubby and I enjoyed this movie very much. And we do have more than average knowledge of Star Trek. Hubby introduced me to the world of Star Trek. To this date, the only missing Star Trek episodes and movies in our collection is the Star Trek Deep Space Nine episodes, only because we couldn’t find it anywhere.

I can’t wait to watch the movie again. I hope it comes out on bluray soon! Right now, I’m thinking of watching the Star Trek episodes again – The Next Generation, Voyager, Enterprise, even the Original Series.

Thanks to Lori and her family, for babysitting Matthew.
