We went to our very first Easter Egg Hunt! To say that Matthew had fun is an understatement! He was so excited, I couldn’t get him so settle down. To say that I got so tired is also an understatement!

We went to this lakeside park. Amazing view! Just great for family picnics and … Easter Egg Hunt!

Before the actual egg hunting started, the Easter Bunny made his rounds. Although, Matthew wouldn’t stay long around the mascot, he didn’t seem to be afraid of him. He gave the Easter Bunny high-fives, he shared his lollipop, and he even gave him a very quick hug.

We had about an hour to spare, so we strolled around the area. We took some photos and I just wanted to enjoy the breeze. However, Matthew had other things in his mind. He wouldn’t settle just in one place so half the time, he was running away while I was calling him and chasing him back. There is this joke around me and Lori, that by the end of the activity, everyone in there would know his name. It most probably happened, even though  everyone around there were playing cool and tolerant.

Thanks to Lori for taking us there and for the photos; and with Rachel and Vega for helping out with Matthew…

I was glad when the Easter Egg Hunt finally started. It’s a controlled activity that Matthew can get involved in. The egg hunt was set up into age groups. He belong to the 0-4 age group. At the 0-4 age group area, the colorful eggs are scattered all over in plain sight, that the eggs were easy to find! After showing him to pick up the eggs, he got the hang of it. He started picking up the eggs by himself (Of course, I never left his side, just like other Moms and Dads who were there with their 0-4-age kiddies.) He had a good hunt!

The big prizes were for those who found the specially marked eggs. Unfortunately, none of those eggs were in Matthew’s basket. Although they were really great prizes, we didn’t bother much to look further for these prized eggs. We have enough eggs with candies on them that he found and picked up, to keep him busy afterward.

After the very eventful morning. We went for pizza. I’ve never seen Matthew had an appetite for food before as much as he had at the pizza place.

When we came home, Matthew showed off his good hunt to his daddy. I had hoped that it would be restful for the rest of the afternoon. I can only hope! Matthew was still alert, awake and no signs of being tired. He still had the energy to stroll around the campus, visit Ms. Lori after dinner time, and wrestle with me while I was chatting with high-school friends in YM. Finally, by pass 8pm, he started throwing tantrums and he is being hard to please. This is usually a sign that he is trying to fight off being sleepy. With the events of the day, I know he is tired, but it still took me more than an hour to finally get him to sleep.

What a long day!

To my high-school friends, thanks for the chat. I wish I stayed longer … life happens, Matthew happens!

To my sister Jessica, whom I’ve been trying to contact since we arrived home, happy birthday.

  • How fun! I bet the Easter Bunny was just a little intimidating to Matthew.

And yes, I remember how grumpy Emma would get when it was past her bedtime!

  • what a fun filled day! I remember doing all those kinds of things with my kids when they were little. Part of me is glad they are passed that stage and a part of me isn’t.
