Matthew’s Visit to the Doctor
So we brought Matthew to the doctor. There’s nothing wrong, just the regular 24-month check-up, a little 3 months delay!
He behaved a little bit at the clinic. He had a few tension attacks. With the closed white wall surrounding us, he probably thought he was going to get some shots. Well, he didn’t.
When the nurse measured him, I felt a little pinch in my heart. During our last visits to the doctor, as a baby they used to measure him lying down to get his height and weight. This time, he was standing up at the scale to get his weight and by the measuring wall to get his height – the big boy style. I got another confirmation that my little baby is a big boy now. He was growing up too fast before my eyes.
When the doctor came, he studied Matthew’s files, and said he, at 35 inches and 29 lbs., he is measuring small for his age. Then he looked at me and asked, “How big are your people?“. “Gosh, as big as me!” I replied. Hubby agreed! He has seem my family. Poor Matthew! It doesn’t look like he is going to be a basketball player when he grows up. He is half-me, afterall. But except that he needs to eat more, in other areas, he is perfectly fine.

I completely understand having a small kid! Peter and I are both average height (me 5′4″ and Peter 5′10″), but we are both thin. So Emma only weighs about 33 lbs. People always comment on how thin she is, but I always point out that with two thin parents, chances are she’s gonna be thin.

- jessica November 19, 2008 at 1:30 pmI think it’s too early to tell. After all, you are living in AMERICA where every food is supersized…maybe he’ll have a growth spurt next year!
