Ready for Christmas?

Friday, November 28th, 2008
Are you ready for Christmas?

Gosh! I am so NOT ready for Christmas yet.

Eventhough, we will be spending Christmas Holiday in Florida, I still want to put up Christmas decorations in our own home, maybe just the Christmas tree and a few more decorations!

And I have not even started Christmas shopping yet! I made a list of gift ideas for each person that we will be giving gifts for and I have tried to find them around but really, I have nothing yet – bought or made, wrapped or ready to giveaway!

Gosh! This talking (blogging) about it is stressing me!

Happy Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

We have been here in Florida for the Thanksgiving Holiday since Sunday. Hubby had a week long vacation from the school and as planned, we travelled from Alabama to Florida to be with his parents and relatives for Thanksgiving.

It has been good days so far, preparing for that big feast. I really had nothing much to do since we will be guest at his Aunt Rosie’s Thanksgiving feast, and Mother-IL and Bro-IL Tom have pretty much planned out as to what to bring to the feast.

So we are here just chilling and sampling Tom’s baking and cooking delights, which are very appetizing! So the pounds hubby happily lost from his job in Alabama, he will most probably gain them back a week of being here. As for me and Matthew, I am just happy to gain as much pounds as we could.

Looking Forward to Thanksgiving

Friday, November 21st, 2008
What do you most look forward to this Thanksgiving holidays?
If you are not looking forward to this holiday, what do you
dread most about the Thanksgiving holiday?

If you are not celebrating Thanksgiving, what holiday or occassion do you most look forward to?

This Thanksgiving, I look forward to good food and good company.

We will be going to Florida for thanksgiving. This will be our first thanksgiving with hubby’s family. I look forward experiencing the Thanksgiving tradition they have. And also just relaxing. It will be a week long vacation for us.

I hope there isn’t anyone in Florida who dreads us coming over. ;)

All Things Bloggy

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

All Things Bloggy is an extension of Life’s a Charm!

While here in Life’s a Charm!, I post about more personal stuffs about my life and my family, in All Things Bloggy, I post about current giveaways, what’s current in the bloggy world, and all other bloggy interests.

This all started with my selfish purpose of tracking down all the giveaways I have entered and earning extra entries by blogging about them. And I have chosen not to blog here in Life’s a Charm!  since my followers there are friends and family who are mostly non-bloggers. My postings on bloggy things will be irrelevant for them.

As my posts increased, I realized that this can be a source of information for some giveaway and blog enthusiasts like myself. At the same time, I have increased the exposure of those blogs’ whose giveaways I have entered and the products they are promoting. Much more than I could have done here in Life’s a Charm!.

Matthew’s Visit to the Doctor

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

So we brought Matthew to the doctor. There’s nothing wrong, just the regular 24-month check-up, a little 3 months delay!

He behaved a little bit at the clinic. He had a few tension attacks. With the closed white wall surrounding us, he probably thought he was going to get some shots. Well, he didn’t.

When the nurse measured him, I felt a little pinch in my heart. During our last visits to the doctor, as a baby they used to measure him lying down to get his height and weight. This time, he was standing up at the scale to get his weight and by the measuring wall to get his height – the big boy style. I got another confirmation that my little baby is a big boy now. He was growing up too fast before my eyes.

When the doctor came, he studied Matthew’s files, and said he, at 35 inches and 29 lbs., he is measuring small for his age. Then he looked at me and asked, “How big are your people?“. “Gosh, as big as me!” I replied. Hubby agreed! He has seem my family. Poor Matthew! It doesn’t look like he is going to be a basketball player when he grows up. He is half-me, afterall. But except that he needs to eat more, in other areas, he is perfectly fine.

It Could Have Been Extra-Special

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

It could have been an extra-special afternoon. It was hubby’s dayoff from work. We got up in the morning and decided that it’s going to be a lazy day.

The blinds are closed to dim the room. We were snuggling at the couch. His fresh shower scent just overwhelms me. The feelings were the same. We were both in the mood for extra-special attention that didn’t include Matthew but would probably include producing a new playmate for Matthew. Afterall, it is about time for a new baby to come along. But it wasn’t time to go further than snuggling. Matthew’s awake. So we waited. Matthew’s naptime won’t be too long.

It’s way past Matthew’s naptime. Hubby transferred to the recliner to give Matthew and I much needed space in the couch. I snuggle with him to help him nap. But it wasn’t enough. He layed there with me alright but he couldn’t stop fidgeting. So I put on the Baby Bach DVD, to calm him down, hoping that the repititious images and music of Bach as background would finally help him doze off. It has helped before. It should be just a matter of time.

More than an hour later, he is still laying in the couch with me but wide awake. Hubby, on the other hand, has found his comfort and has soundly fallen asleep. While I’m struggling with a headache from trying hard not to close my eyes.

Sigh. It’s almost 5 p.m., almost time to get dinner. The room’s still dim and music of Bach’s still playing. Matthew is at the floor playing with his blocks. He didn’t nap, not a wink. Hubby has just woke up and I still have headache but it’s time to get off the couch.

Sigh. It could have been an extra-special afternoon for hubby and me, but apparently, Matthew decided, no siblings allowed.

To Be Photographed

Friday, November 14th, 2008
Do you enjoy being photographed?

Sure, I enjoy being photographed. I don’t always look nice in photos but I always have a big smile. And I don’t usually feel embarrassed even when the photo is taken in public. I also enjoy taking photos. I take photos of almost anything, mostly of Matthew’s, and I always regret when I don’t have my camera with me.

‘Thank a Veteran’ Day

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Photo: Michael in Training

This is hubby taken when he was 17-years old during his training in the US Army. He served during the Gulf War in the early ’90s and had gone to various parts of the world for different missions. He recently just retired after 23-years in the Army Infantry. Unfortunately, I met him and we got married during the later part of his service so I didn’t get to witness so much action. But then I’m just glad that I met him at all.

He continues his service by providing mentorship to students as a Tactical Officer in a military school here in Alabama. And he still gets to wear his military uniforms.

Today, Hubby and the school’s marching drill team are on their way to a parade in celebration of the Veteran’s Day. They are all dresssed up in their formal military uniform including Hubby. Buckles and shoes are all shiny and bright. And they are even wearing white gloves. They all look sharp and patriotic.
